THE GRAVEL DRIVE

For Matt, it all began 20 years ago at Carolina studying communications and media production. Upon graduating, however, instead of entering the media production field, Matt took a brief 13-year detour into the Army and the CIA with multiple overseas deployments. Fast forward to early 2024, Matt returned to what he is passionate about- visual storytelling.

Gravel Drive Media was born.

Leveraging the context and experience gained around the world, Matt has learned that humans are far more similar to one another than prevailing narratives would have you believe. We are intrinsically motivated by similar themes if we get to the roots of our stories.

Building on his initial education at UNC, Matt returned to college with his military benefits, studying Guitar at Berklee College of Music and Digital Cinematography at Full Sail University.

But it was working with renowned actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, famous for his portrayal as Lt Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump, as Gary’s foundation’s Director of Communications, where Matt rediscovered his passion for storytelling. He learned how an understanding of human conditions and then converting that understanding into compelling stories can unite us, inspire us, move us, and change us.

So he founded Gravel Drive Media with a mission. A mission to tell the Gravel Drive stories with their imperfect surfaces, meandering paths, pockmarks, and timeless foundations— and to shun the bright, shiny, ruled, lined and paved stories that fill our feeds with highlight reels and viral, slapstick content.
